About Us
Who are we?
Fitz Roy Tap House is owned and operated by Max Rodgers. Max is a Mechanical Engineer by trade and a beer connoisseur by choice. After working in industry for a few years, he moved to the North Thornton area in the oh-so-lovely year of 2020 and quickly noticed an opportunity for mobile watering holes. After proposing to his now-wife, the gears began to turn, and the Fitz Roy Tap Trailer was born. With its maiden voyage debuting at Emma and Max's wedding in late 2022, the Trailer earned its keep and kicked off a promising business venture.
What is a Fitz Roy?
Wonderful question! Thanks for asking. The namesake for Fitz Roy came to life shortly after a life changing vacation to the Patagonia region of Chile and Argentina for Max and his wife Emma in 2019. Mount Fitz Roy is one of the most breathtaking, historic, and famous mountains in South America. Located directly on the border of Chile and Argentina, Mount Fitz Roy served as a symbolic battleground for mountaineers in each country. Each country's finest mountaineers competed for the first summit of this noble peak, many losing their lives in the process. The first summit was made by Lionel Terray and Guido Magnone of an Argentinian based French expedition in 1952. Entranced by it's history and beauty, Max and Emma returned home and named their first dog (a Black-Tri Australian Shepherd) after the mountain. Both Fitz Roy (the mountain), and Fitz (the dog) made their way into the Fitz Roy logo.
